This is a tricky one. I don't like to support the corruption in the police force, but due to the low wages that the police make, it is quite common here. Mordida is basically a bribe to get out of a ticket. Keep 200 pesos in your car and if you get pulled over, kindly ask if you can settle this with them. They will hold their rule book in the window of your car, place the 200 pesos in the book and look around like that is all you have on you. This works for simple tickets they are wanting to give you (ie speeding, illegal turn, etc) DO NOT try and bribe your way out of a drunk driving infraction unless they are requesting you do so. Better yet, don't drink and drive.
